The way in which we help our patients is by treating the individual as an individual! There is no single approach to wellness that will work for everyone because each person is unique in their lifestyle and biochemical makeup. For example, some different aspects of what makes each person different is their food intake, genetics, sleep patterns, profession, and perception. Each person must take an active role in their own path to wellness. The patient and practitioner relationship must be one of open communication for optimal results.
"Health is not the absence of disease and symptoms are not always an indication of poor health."
Symptoms are also unreliable in terms of identifying where there is an imbalance in the body. This is because two people could have the same symptoms but have completely different conditions. What symptoms do tell us is that something is out of balance. Health is not defined by how you FEEL. An energetic, seemingly happy person can die of a heart attack in a second. A symptom is one of the last stages of disease. Like a car, It is wise to keep the body tuned up rather than wait for it to break down.
"The power that made the body, can correct the body."
At Pure NEWtrition, patients are educated about the true function of the body. People have been led to believe that poor health can be fixed with prescription drugs. This CANNOT be farther from the truth. The human body is made of cells containing living matter (ex: vitamins, minerals, macronutrients and enzymes).
"Disease or dysfunction is not a prescription drug deficiency!"
Your Body's Bio Electrical System
- Except for your brain cells, 50,000,000 of the cells in your body will have died and been replaced with others, all while you have been reading this sentence.
- The adult heart beats about 40,000,000 times a year. In one hour, the heart works hard enough to produce enough energy to raise almost one ton of weight one yard from the ground.
- The liver is often called the body's chemical factory. Scientists have counted 500 different liver functions.
- The central nervous system is connected to every part of the body by 43 pairs of nerves. Twelve pairs go to and from the brain, and 31 go from the spinal cord. There are nearly 45 miles of nerves running through our bodies.
- Messages travel along the nerves as electrical impulses. The fastest they travel is about 248 miles per hour.
- In one square inch of skin there are four yards of nerve fibers, 1300 nerve cells, 100 sweat glands, 3 million cells and three yards of blood vessels.
The point behind all these facts is that your body is a wonderful, complex creation. Like a machine, all of its parts (organs, glands, muscles and tissues) must be in good working condition. Its electrical system (nervous system) must be carrying energy smoothly to all areas. There must not be any short circuits. Finally, it must be fueled with the proper NUTRITION to keep it functioning, alive and well.
A short history of medicine:
"I have an earache..."
2000 BCE: "Here, eat this root."
1000 CE: "That root is heathen. Here, say this prayer."
1850 CE: "Prayer is superstition. Here, drink this potion."
1940 CE: "That potion is snake oil. Here, swallow this pill."
1985 CE: "That pill is ineffective. Here, take this antibiotic."
2002 CE: "That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root."
We use advanced techniques to quickly and efficiently pinpoint your specific imbalances and underlying causes of dysfunction. There are two modalities most utilized in our office. They are Contact Reflex Analysis (CRA) (www.crahealth.org) and Total Body Modification (TBM) (www.tbmseminars.com). Once the cause(s) has been determined and evaluated, we will work up a comprehensive program including specific foods, whole food supplements and herbs necessary to restore balance and correct the condition. 99% of the products prescribed are whole food supplements from Standard Process (www.standardprocess.com) and herbs from Mediherb (www.mediherb.com). This is because they are of the highest quality. After you start your individual program, we will continue to use these tools to monitor and maximize your progression and improvement.
"Health is a journey. It is not a destination."
Patients come in for care until their condition is healed or they continue with a maintenance program for wellness and prevention. The patient decides always.

"We are continuously faced with ever-increasing health challenges resulting from
the dangerous pollution of our environment. If we cannot change our environment,
we must learn to live within it by eliminating the effects on our health."
Muscle testing
Applied Kinesiology, also known as "muscle testing" is a technique in which the body is used as a channel through which it relates information about its own condition. Research has shown the human body to be a computer made up of the brain (electrical generator and memory bank) and hundreds of miles of electrical wires called nerves. These nerves connect every organ, gland and tissue of the body. These nerves also connect with fuses or breaker switches called reflexes. By contacting these reflexes and using the body's muscular system as an indicator, we are able to monitor the function of body systems. Hundreds of miles of nerves carry electrical energy and connect with every organ, gland, muscle and tissue. There are approximately 75 known reflex areas on the skin which represent various organs, glands and bone structures. It is believed that when the body becomes ill there is an interruption of nerve energy to these reflexes. The reflex, when tested, will act similar to a circuit breaker under an overload.
"Disease is simply a dis-ease of energy."
To test a reflex, the tester will use the patient's arm muscle (or any other muscle) as a "circuit" indicator. When the tester's fingertip comes near or touches a healthy reflex, the arm muscle will remain very strong. Nerve energy is flowing freely. The tester will not be able to push the patient's arm down without exerting a lot of force. However if the arm muscle is suddenly weak, and the tester can easily push the patient's arm down, a "hot circuit breaker" has been located. The nerve energy has been interrupted. Using this reflex information, the health care practitioner will know if the problem is structural, physical, or nutritional.
When the deficiencies are uncovered, an exact structural and/or nutritional support can be given to help the body heal.
Total Body Modification
Total Body Modification (TBM) is a technique, developed by three Chiropractors and Kinesiologists using the principles of Applied Kinesiology, Trigger Point Therapy and the Acupuncture Meridians. Thirty years ago, Dr. Victor L. Frank, Dr. Robert Riddler and Dr. C. Harold Havlic started to develop a way to tap into the body's own bio-computer, the brain and the nervous system. This biological computer within the body controls all of the body's functions. TBM looks at functional physiology, not cadaver physiology. TBM uses a very sophisticated system of kinesiological testing (muscle testing) and gentle manipulations or vertebral corrections. The practitioner facilitates the normal flow of energy by first discovering where the imbalances are and then making the necessary corrections allowing the body to return to normal, healthy functioning. An imbalance in the body's energy systems and physiological processes can be evaluated and treated before serious problems arise.
TBM is an evolving technique that today can test and correct most of the known body functions.
- TBM balances blood pressure.
- TBM eliminates cold and flu symptoms by balancing the body.
- TBM balances the metabolisms of the body, including sugar metabolism.
- TBM addresses dehydration and other problems due to improper fluid handling.
- TBM keeps emotional problems from affecting the physical body.
- TBM helps manage and/or eliminate major neurological and systemic problems.
- TBM allows the body to detoxify without supplements.
- TBM is especially valuable in eliminating heavy metals from your patients.
- TBM balances the reaction to allergens, allowing symptoms to disappear and giving your patients the freedom to enjoy what they previously could not have.
How does TBM work?
The nervous system is composed of the Central Nervous System, which runs the voluntary function or movements and the Autonomic Nervous System, which runs the involuntary functions of the body, such as heart beat, digestion, etc. Each of these systems are further divided into Sensory and Motor Fibers. The brain is the primary control for both branches of the nervous system. Sensory fibers carry messages to the brain where they are processed like a computer, and the brain in turn, tells the body what to do.
Research has proved that under sufficient stress, from any reason, the neurons in the brain centers which are controlling the stressed organ or body part essentially depolarize. This is like blowing a fuse on an electrical circuit. The message gets to the brain but fails to return. The result is that the brain (computer) loses effective control over the afflicted organ or body part. This leaves the organ or body part running out of control.
Using tried and tested reflex points and applied kinesiology,(muscle testing) the T.B.M. practitioner can find the problem. The practitioner will then stimulate a specific area or areas of the spine in
a specific manner in an attempt to stimulate the neurons on the brain to repolarize (fix the fuse) and allow the brain to regain control of the body and guide it back to health. Since a correctly functioning
nervous system is a major requirement for health, it follows that T.B.M. can have a part to play in almost any problem and uncover and correct the roadblocks to recovery. We recognize that certain conditions
produce predictable subluxation patters in the spine. Corrections are usually made by means of respiratory spinal treatment of these patters, or by soft tissue or joint manipulation. TBM may sometimes
look like magic to the uninformed, because when the right thing is done to the right body, at the right time, miracles happen! But, even though it appears so incredible, it is eminently teachable and learnable.
The procedures are repeatable from practitioner to practitioner and can correct imbalanced physiology from pre-natal life to just before death.
Contact Reflex Analysis
CRA is a simple, safe, natural method of analyzing the body's structural, physical, and nutritional needs using acupuncture points and meridians. Acupuncture has been around for over 5,000 years. CRA was developed over 40 years ago by Dr. Richard Versendaal. CRA reveals the cause(s) of the patient's symptoms. CRA is not a method of diagnosis. It is a means by which a health professional uses the body reflexes to accurately determine the source of a health problem. Many times the symptoms of a health problem are treated while the actual source of the problem continues to go undetected. For example, headaches are treated with aspirin, coughs are treated with cough medicine. If these symptoms persist, expensive tests are run and stronger medications are prescribed. But the question still remains. What's causing the headache? What's causing the cough? This is why patients get well here because many people are typically treated symptomatically for their conditions.
A great degree of accuracy is possible with CRA. It will even uncover deficiencies at a sub-clinical level; that is when the problem is so tiny that the person may not be aware of it, and many modern methods of testing cannot detect it. Until CRA, the methods for determining the body's structural, physical, and nutritional needs were costly, time consuming and at times frightening. The only method of determining a nutritional need was by a person's symptoms, expensive lab work, and the Health Care Professional's knowledge of biochemistry, physiology, and nutrition. An educated guess was made. Now with CRA, the educated guess is no longer necessary. CRA is the finest natural method of guiding the Health Care Professional to the root of the problem. With CRA, the Health Care Professional is also able to prove to the patient that the source of the problem has been located, and that the proper nutritional support and/or structural procedure has been given. There are CRA practitioners all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, Africa and Japan. They include but are limited to medical doctors, chiropractors, clinical nutritionists, naturopaths, optometrists, dentists and veterinaries.
