Detoxification - Cleaning Up in 2005

By Rebecca Karchere

So here we are in the New Year, 2005. Most of you, I can bet, have put on some holiday weight with all the festivities of the holiday season. Well the fun is over, and now we have to undo all the damage that we put our bodies through. I like to refer to it as detoxification rather than lose weight. There are many ways to tackle this post holiday problem and there are many reasons why someone would want to clean their bodies or detox. “Who can benefit from a detox?”, you may ask. My answer to you is, “Who couldn’t?” Just like your home and car need spring cleaning, so does your body. Just think about it. Before you even leave your home in the morning, you have been exposed to hundreds of chemicals. Don’t believe me? Let’s see, chlorine from the water in the shower, fluoride in the toothpaste, chemicals in deodorant, makeup, cologne, perfume, 100’s of pesticides in breakfast, and in tea or coffee. Shall I go on? And you haven’t even left your house yet!!

Some symptoms that you may have that indicate the need for a cleaning are: Fatigue, weight gain, PMS, allergies, hypoglycemia, diarrhea, low libido, puffiness under eyes, dry skin, constipation, high cholesterol, poor digestion, fluid retention high blood pressure, difficulty sleeping, skin conditions, and joint pain.

Standard Process is a whole food supplement company that I use for my patients. They have a detoxification program that I have done and have gotten great results and so have my patients that have done it. There is also program called the gall bladder flush, which I have also done. This program purges the body of gall stones that accumulate from poor diet and stress. It is quite effective and is ideal for someone who is being threatened with the possibility of gall bladder removal. I personally don’t recommend surgery because the flush is available. The flush is so powerfully effective and reverses a diseased gall bladder, no surgery would be necessary. There are many other detoxification programs that consist of eating certain foods for a certain amount of time.

I recommend a particular program to my patients depending on their biochemical needs and their lifestyle. The reason is that detox programs typically require commitment, preparation and usually rest from their typical routines. Most importantly, my patient’s present health is important in deciding which program with be best tolerated and effective.

The cost of a program varies as well. Everyday foods that you have already in your kitchen can be all you need while other require specific supplements or both. I only recommend programs that I have personally experienced. Contact the office if you are interested in reaching optimal health through detoxification or just have questions.
